It’s that time of the year when I get to deck the halls without holding back. I already shared my DIY Christmas Decorations, now I’ll share the 2018 Ranch House Christmas Tour in its glorious entirety. This year I did a nighttime tour. Why? Two reasons. The first being Christmas decor at night is so incredibly magical that while it’s here I try to savor up every site, quiet sound, and glass of peaceful wine that I can. The second is because of the following…
…The other day was a fairly typical winter day here. It was freezing outside (high 20’s?), the kids were running– no– more like sprinting a high cabin fever, and I felt like I just could NOT get on top of anything! Have you felt like that recently? Like no task is reaching completion, and any task you might actually enjoy doing has four lowly, dismal, preceding tasks that must be done first. I.e dishes in the sink, laundry on the bed, scattered miscellaneous toys to pickup, ect. Bleh. Usually when I feel like the house is caving in on me, I turn on turbo clean mode and everything disappears (sometimes never to resurface again). When it was time to get those children who were “repeating the sounding joy” [non-stop] into bed, I had a house ready to peacefully photograph. Aka my ZEN time.
That’s what brought us to this lovely Christmas evening tour. It’s that modern, eclectic, and splash of Scandinavian style that I love for the holidays. What’s more, and I feel it’s worth mentioning, this rental home isn’t my exact style with all its honeyed walls, oak cupboards, brown counters, and lighting (or lack there of), but we’re cozy, content, and making the most of it with our style. Of course we’re grateful, that’s never in question when we have a roof over our heads. God has blessed us greatly with this home in our waiting time to build our house! Perhaps next Christmas we’ll be in that farmhouse of our dreams…
Merry Christmas <3
