After seeing all the gorgeous white farmhouses in Denmark, I’m anxious to see this beaut painted! In other news, tomorrow starts the “last day of [xyz] in Germany” as we begin our one week countdown till flying home! We’re looking more and more forward to getting our hands dirty at the build with every passing day!! Needless to say, it’s been a good decision to get back home and to this next adventure 🤗.

🇩🇰 Today we experienced northern Denmark in all its unique beauty! Flat, dense green agricultural plains, sandy cliffs, 1800s farmhouses, lighthouses, WW2 bunkers, thunderstorms, and the further most northern point of Denmark where two seas and contrasting currents meet. Despite a lot of car and walking time, it was a fairly ideal trip with the kids (shout out to our @babytula backpack carriers!) Our legs got worked, but the Danish fish dinner and beer made for a fine finish 🤌🏼🐠✨. Check out my stories for more!

First look at the kitchen cabinets! The island is still growing, but it’s so good to finally see the colors coming together! 🤗 I’ll admit that I’m fairly nervous about seeing the finishes installed! 😬😅. So many things I haven’t seen in person, but purchased months ago?? 😂

Fact: I still go back to my final lighting, plumbing, and tile order lists to remind myself that I made good choices and that the house won’t be an empty husk for us to finish 😂. Michael has more house nightmares than I do, but it will be good for both of us to see and touch it soon!! 🤌🏼😍🤌🏼

We made it to another weekend. And if you saw my last post, we only have 3 weekends left before we leave this adventure in Germany/Europe and move home to the USA for good! So many decisions have been made and changed these past couple months and I’m proud of our growing flexibility, sense of adventure, and mostly our knowledge of what we really need. And right now that need is home💛. So now I get to enter in the nostalgia period and remember all the sweet moments we’ve had here the past 1.5 years old with people and places as we prepare for this next phase. ✨ thanks for following along.

We scored big when we made our last minute housing

We scored big when we made our last minute housing decision for Germany in January 2020. Not only did we get a beautiful furnished flat, the expansive backyard was gold during the lockdowns, and our upstairs landlords became our beloved family. Here’s to a “few” more glasses of rosé in the “garten” before we say Auf Wiedersehen to das Deutschland.

To get to the North Sea today we knew we had to drag our butts out of bed and hit the road as early as possible. Impressively we got everything loaded up, groceries, and on the road by 8AM beating all the traffic to the beach! The kids loved it more than any cute German town walk through and since public beach drinking and unjudged crazy kid antics are allowed we loved it too 😜. Another adventure for the memory books!

Do you like making decisions under pressure or over a long time? I’ve made a fair amount of our home finishing choices between one product or another solely by the pressure of “hey we’re ordering/building this tomorrow, what did you choose?” It’ll be fine. It’s all fine. 🙆🏻‍♀️😂

Where is you happy place? Are you going there this

Where is you happy place? Are you going there this summer? Mine was always Leavenworth and North Bend. Both are surrounded by big mountains, rivers, and of course, an ice cream shop 😁🍦🤍. But having been away from the USA the past 1.5 years my happy places are wherever I’ve grown and dreamed the most: Anacortes (where I grew up) and Lake Chelan (where we’re building). The most beautiful places in the world are home 🏡. Here are some views of my favorite places. ✨🌊🏔

Delivery times are all over the place for house finishes and furniture what with the insane backorder life the world’s experiencing, but we’ll be in there and cozy eventually! 🙏🏼💛
