Hard Cider Tasting for Father’s Day

I definitely feel like we’re in a blessed time of life right now. We came out of what felt like a long, oppressing and challenging winter into a new season of joys and adventure. Remodeling the house, beginnings of summer camping and grilling, loving an adorable puppy, and today celebrating my amazing papa bear with some grand family time.

Father & Daughter

I definitely feel like we’re in a blessed time of life right now. We came out of what felt like a long, oppressing and challenging winter into a new season of joys and adventure. Remodeling the house, beginnings of summer camping and grilling, loving an adorable puppy, and today celebrating my amazing papa bear with some grand family time.

Today my parents, a sister, and the family dog Camper came over for a Dad honoring lunch. I love everything that has to do with hosting: cleaning, decorating, menu planning, food display, and ultimately the chance to have people relax and catch up over some delicious grub. I’ve been enamored with simple mixed green floral displays, so I brought my scissors into my backyard jungle and made these.

I also cleared out all things tools from the main rooms AND actually took more things out of the storage room to decorate with.. Progress is progress even with only having a few meager furnishings to fill our real deal home! (…Someday we’ll own things that weren’t free in front of a college house.. someday..)

Shelf Decorating

For a Father’s Day gift I bought my dad a variety of his favorite drink, hard cider, for tasting. What fun!

Hard Cider Tasting

From smoked cider to hoppy cider to local cider and sweet cider, we about had it all. (The sweet was the favorite..Perhaps a no brainer in my family.) Gathering the ciders can be a bit spendy, but it makes for a great gift! (Better than a tie!) Have some fun with it and pull out some cool glasses (I go these on sale at World Market after Christmas. I love them!) and grab a snazzy tray to display them on. I wasn’t very particular about the trying process. We didn’t write notes or anything, but that would be neat too! (Next Father’s Day we’ll have another go and I’ll be sure to share it all with you!)

Behind the scenes, Moose (Australian Shepherd) & Camper (Border Collie) had a grand ole time running the house. Or in this instance, sitting for treats.

Moose & Camper

Sorry, no pictures of the succulent baked and grilled pork ribs, but here’s evidence that my loving father had a solid good meal. *Note the perfect form and poise he’s developed in his post lunch naps despite all animal (previously child) chaos ensuing around him.

Happy Father's Day

I love you Popsicle!! Do you have any Father’s Day traditions?

Petite Modern Life

I'm Karisa. I live just outside of Seattle with my husband Michael {Mr. G}, our two cats, Rue and Archimedes, and our new Australian Shepherd pup in crime, Moose. We are do-it-yourself enthusiasts. I'm the dreamer, he's the strategist, and teamed up we get it done. In January 2014 we purchased our first house! The many adventures of remodeling, decorating, and inevitable redecorating will be documented here. I was born and raised in the PNW & I love the PNW life. Mountains, lakes, rivers, ocean, trees, rain, and sun: every sight & season has its own flavor & tune. It inspires in me activity, coziness, and sprees of creativity. I'm rather obsessed with white paint, natural light, homemade pizza, and a glass of red wine.
